From roof pitch and frame size to a complete quote

Flat roof, lean-to, gable roof or raised ridge: you enter the roof pitch and the frame size, and the depth, the surface areas, the timber schedule and the hours follow from that. You draw the window frames in the Kozijnen app, and they land under the same dormer on the quote.

From roof pitch and frame size to a complete quote

Drawing up a dormer quote by hand means working out triangle geometry, keeping a bill of materials in a spreadsheet, and pricing the window frames separately. The Dakkapel Ontwerper turns that around: you enter the roof pitch and the frame size, and the depth, the surface areas of roof and cheeks, the timber schedule and the hours follow from that. You draw the window frames in the Kozijn Ontwerper and they land under the same dormer on the quote.

How it works

  1. Choose the type and enter the size. Flat roof, lean-to, gable roof or raised ridge — you provide the roof pitch and the frame size, and the rest of the geometry is derived.
  2. The bill of materials fills itself in. Timber schedule, roof finish, cheek finish and hours follow from the measurements, with the finish you choose (EPDM or roofing felt, zinc or cladding).
  3. Draw the window frames in the Kozijnen app. They come back in the front view of the dormer as the actual window-frame drawing — with opening direction, glass, panels and glazing bars.
  4. One price, one line. The quote shows one amount per dormer, window frames included, with the specification block above it. An option that isn’t part of that amount appears as a separate surcharge line.

Part of the Kozijnen suite

The Dakkapel Ontwerper doesn’t stand on its own. The same platform includes CRM, quotes and invoices, and the Kozijnen app for the window frames themselves — one customer file from first contact to delivery.

Frequently asked questions

Who is the Dakkapel Ontwerper for?
For contractors and dormer builders who design and quote dormers, with or without window frames included. The application is built for the sales phase: from measurements to drawing, bill of materials and quote. Work preparation and on-site measuring aren't part of it at this point.
Which dormer types are supported?
Four: flat roof, lean-to, gable roof and raised ridge. For each type you calculate from the same input — roof pitch and frame size — with its own drawing and bill of materials.
How is the price determined?
Every line of the bill of materials has a purchase price; the sales price is purchase price times (1 + project margin). The margin is a setting you can override per dormer. If you set a fixed sales price on an item yourself, that takes precedence over the calculation.
What if an item doesn't have a price yet?
Then the application flags it before you send the quote, instead of silently setting the line to €0.00. You see at a glance which price is still missing.
How do the window frames work together with this application?
You draw the window frames in the Kozijnen app as part of the same dormer. Those window frames technically remain ordinary window-frame lines — with glass schedule, order form to the factory and ISDE subsidy calculation (a Dutch sustainable-energy subsidy) — but they appear on the quote and in the drawing underneath the dormer. Remove the dormer from the quote, and the associated window-frame lines disappear with it.
What does the customer see on the quote?
One line per dormer: the dormer's name with the total amount underneath, window frames included. An option that isn't part of that amount — such as a roller shutter or a roof window — appears as a separate surcharge line below it, never hidden in a list without an amount.
What's in the bill of materials?
The timber schedule (joists, uprights, blocks), the roof finish, the cheek finish and the hours for prefab assembly and on-site installation — the same categories as on a traditional dormer quote, now derived automatically from the measurements instead of filled in by hand.
Can I choose between EPDM and roofing felt, or zinc and cladding on the cheeks?
Yes. Those choices determine which catalogue item goes on the relevant line of the bill of materials; the quantity stays the same. The structural cross-section on the quote changes along with the chosen finish, so the drawing and the specification never drift apart.
How accurate are the quantities?
Quantities such as beams, uprights and blocks are derived from the frame size and the depth, not typed in separately. That way the bill of materials automatically grows with a wider or deeper dormer, instead of you having to revise the quantities by hand for every new size.
Can I also design an extension with this?
No, that's a separate step. This application is built for designing and quoting dormers; an extension can't be drawn and quoted with it at this point.
What happens if I convert the quote to an order, or copy it?
The dormer and its associated window frames move together: when converting a quote to an order, and when copying a quote, the dormer keeps pointing to its own window-frame design instead of to the original.
Where is my data stored?
LSQapps is Dutch software and runs on servers in the European Union, in line with the GDPR. Your designs, customer data and quotes stay within the EU.
What does it cost and how does the subscription work?
You activate the application in your own LSQapps environment and pay per application you use; you can try it for free via the catalogue.
